Zefanya Albrena Sembiring is a researcher at Center for Environmental Law and Climate Justice (CELCJ) Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia. He was educated in Indonesia (Universitas Indonesia) for Bachelor of Law (LL.B) with a cum-laude and in the Netherlands (Universiteit Utrecht) for LL.M in European Law with concentration on Law and Sustainability. He possesses specialty areas encompassing topics such as Indonesian environmental law, EU environmental law, Indonesian climate law, climate litigation, intergenerational rights, and the legal framework of emerging climate engineering techniques such as Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR).
Apart from his works in publications, Zefanya has also devoted himself to several research projects beneficial to the crucial legal development in Indonesia. He participated in projects initiated by international/national organizations, namely the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Traction Energy Asia, and Indonesian Center for Environmental Law (ICEL). His native language is Bahasa Indonesia and he is fluent in English. He is currently improving Dutch (basic reading ability).
